WAXING
Waxing is a temporary method of hair removal where wax is applied to the skin and removed with a non-woven strip which removes the hair from the roots.  Hygienic disposable wax, strips, and applicators are used in accordance with the recommended hygiene guidelines.  PHARO a water-based sugar wax is used for all waxing procedures. The Manuka Honey sugaring gel is formulated with kiwifruit and aloe vera to protect, heal and nourish the skin
Hair needs to be at least 3-4mm in length for the waxing to be successful – this is usually anywhere from 4-6 weeks growth.
Please note:
If you have been shaving the area it may take a couple of waxes to get your hair into a cycle of growth that allows the most effective wax results.

  • HOW DO I PREPARE?
Please ensure that you don’t use moisturiser or deodorant on the day of your waxing. Hair needs to be a minimum length of 3-4mm

  • WHAT ARE THE AFTERCARE PROCEDURES WHICH I NEED TO FOLLOW?
Avoid sun exposure to waxed areas 24 hours before and after waxing.
Do not swim in chlorinated pools for 24 hours.
Avoid touching the area to ensure it remains free of bacteria.

  • IS THERE ROUTINE HOMECARE?
To avoid ingrown hairs gentle exfoliation with a soft brush or glove is helpful.  Do not rub too hard as you could break new emerging hairs which can cause your next wax to be less effective.
Waxing is a semi-permanent treatment that needs to be repeated every 3-6 weeks.  Over time the density of the hair in the waxed area appears to decrease as the regrowth is a lot softer and sparser.

ELECTROLYSIS
Electrolysis is a method of removing individual hairs from the face or body.  Beauty in Residence uses ‘The Blend” technique which destroys the growth center of the hair with chemical and heat energy. A very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, the hair becomes loosened after treatment and is then removed with tweezers.  This is a permanent method of hair removal and hair density will decrease over repeated treatments.

  • DOES IS HURT?
There is a small amount of discomfort felt when having electrolysis the level seems to be dependent on an individual’s pain threshold but it is generally well tolerated by most clients.

  • HOW WILL MY SKIN REACT?
The area treated will be slightly red and raised initially after treatment but this will subside within 45 mins of your appointment.
On your first electrolysis appointment, a consultation will be conducted to take you through the treatment procedures, results and required care.

  • WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?
Do not pick or touch the treated area.
Do not apply makeup to the area for at least 2 hours.
Do not expose your skin to the sun for 24 hours.
Do not use peels or exfoliants for 72 hours
Aloe Vera or mild antiseptic creams can be applied to the area – but this is usually not necessary.
